Homemade Lemon Lime & Bitters
This is the perfect drink at the end of a long day of gardening ... (before you move onto the red wine for dinner!).
Inspired from Stephanie Alexander's Fantastic Lemon cordial, which is a winner as a fundraiser to sell at our Primary School's Annual Fair.
For the Lemon / Lime Cordial
- 2kg White sugar
- 1 litre of water
- 30g citric acid
- 30g tartaric acid
- Juice of 3 lemons, strained
- Juice of 3 limes, strained
- Finely grated zest of 2 lemons
Dissolve sugar in water over heat in a large saucepan. Add Citric and tartaric acids . Stir constantly to ensure the sugar dissolves. Cool in pan and add juice and zest and bottle.
Now for the LLB
One tall glass, fill with a few ice cubes, pour in a usual amount of the cordial. Add the cold soda water. Add a dash bitters and a slice of lime. Oh so refreshing!
